The Heart Check-Up Camp, organised by the North East Health Association (NEHA) in collaboration with the Lions Club of Guwahati Umang Lioness, took place on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at Shubham Buildwell.
This event, part of the Healthy Heart Project, was attended by Mr. G.M. Srivastava (President of NEHA), Mrs. Sudha Srivastava, Dr. Reema Das Mallik, Mrs. Payal Chadha, Dr. Virginia, Dr. Moitroyee and Mrs. Swati Choudhury. Free check-ups and tests, including blood tests and ECGs conducted by AccuRate Lab, were provided, making vital heart screenings accessible to the community and supporting preventive heart health.

The event, aimed at raising awareness about heart health and the prevention of cardiovascular diseases, brought together medical professionals, lifestyle experts, and community members for a day of learning and engagement.
The programme, anchored by Mr. Nabish Alam, commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. Reema Das Mallik, Assistant Secretary of NEHA. Dr. Mallik highlighted the significance of World Heart Day and the importance of focusing on heart health in today’s fast-paced world. She set the stage for an insightful discussion on the steps that individuals and communities can take to prevent heart disease.
Following this, Mrs. Bela Nawka, Treasurer of NEHA, provided an overview of the association’s mission and achievements. She emphasized NEHA’s ongoing efforts to promote health awareness across the Northeast region and its commitment to community education, particularly in the realm of heart health.
Dr. Bikash Rai Das, Senior Consultant Heart Surgeon at Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati, delivered the keynote address, stressing the need for a comprehensive approach to heart health. Dr. Das introduced the theme for World Heart Day 2024, "Use Heart for Action", urging individuals to adopt lifestyle changes such as proper diet, stress management, and exercise to reduce their risk of cardiovascular diseases. Dr. Das also led an interactive quiz on heart health and disease prevention, engaging the audience and rewarding winners with prizes.
The highlight of the event was a panel discussion titled "Heart Health in the Modern Era", moderated by Mr. Nabish Alam. The panel brought together experts from diverse fields who shared their insights:
Padmanav Bordoloi, spoke about the positive effects of music on heart health, highlighting its ability to reduce stress and promote emotional well-being.
Kashmiri Nath, a renowned chef, discussed the role of heart-healthy foods and offered practical dietary advice to the attendees.
Suchandra Roy, a gym owner, shared her experiences implementing safety protocols in gyms following cardiac incidents, emphasizing the importance of regular health screenings and supervised exercise routines.
Nidhi Jogani, a Pranic Healing facilitator, introduced the audience to Twin Heart meditation, explaining how it can help reduce stress and improve emotional balance.
Payal Aggarwal, representing Boss Network, discussed stress management techniques for high-pressure environments, focusing on the importance of mental well-being for heart health.
RJ Mandy offered a unique perspective on the connection between heart health and media-related stress management.
Additional invitees, including Triveni Baruah, a yoga expert, Mrs. Manisha Sarma, a prolific writer, and Mr. Anup Kumar Mahanta, a distinguished writer, shared insights on the emotional and cultural dimensions of heart health, enriching the discussion with their diverse perspectives.

NEHA, Illumis Clinic, Midas Touch, and Unstoppable organised a two-day HPV Vaccination Drive aimed at spreading awareness about the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine and its role in cancer prevention. The event consisted of an interactive session on Sunday, September 8th, 2024, followed by a vaccination camp on Monday, September 9th, 2024.

The interactive session, anchored by Mr. Nabish Alam, began with an introduction to Midas Touch and Unstoppable by Dr. Reema Das Mallik, setting the tone for the program. This was followed by a felicitation ceremony for the invited guests.
Dr. Bikash Rai Das, Secretary of NEHA, introduced NEHA through a detailed presentation, highlighting its efforts towards cancer prevention and healthcare improvement.
The session then moved on to a presentation by Dr. Raj Kr Paul, Pediatrician), Neonatologist, who spoke on HPV Vaccine Benefits & Cancer Prevention. Dr. Paul emphasised the critical role of HPV vaccination in preventing cervical cancer and urged the audience to take proactive steps in vaccinating themselves and their loved ones.
Following this, Mrs. Aruna Sarawgi, Rehabilitation Psychologist, delivered a talk on Emotion & Cancer. She discussed the emotional struggles cancer patients face and the crucial role that psychological support plays in helping them through treatment and recovery. Mrs. Sarawgi highlighted the importance of emotional resilience, family support, and professional psychological intervention.

Mental Health & Stress Management
Her session focused on the emotional and mental challenges that cancer patients and their families experience, and how to manage stress during such difficult times. She provided practical coping strategies for maintaining mental well-being, emphasizing the significance of mental health in the overall cancer care journey.
The event concluded with high tea, providing an opportunity for the attendees to reflect on the presentations and engage in further discussions about the importance of both mental and physical health in cancer prevention.
Vaccination Camp: September 9, 2024

The vaccination camp was held at Illumis Clinic, Jonali, Guwahati, allowing attendees to receive the HPV vaccine. Healthcare professionals were present to ensure the process was smooth and informative, guiding participants on the long-term benefits of the vaccine.
The HPV Vaccination Drive by NEHA, Illumis Clinic, Midas Touch and Unstoppable was a meaningful initiative that successfully combined educational and emotional support with preventive healthcare.
This event empowered participants to take action towards a cancer-free future, while also addressing the emotional and mental health aspects crucial to the journey of cancer prevention and care.

Successful CPR Training Sessions at Gail Office, Megha Plaza
We are pleased to announce the successful completion of two CPR training sessions at the Gail Office in Megha Plaza, held on the 16th and 18th of July. Over these two days, we trained more than fifty ex-servicemen currently serving as security agents for Gail across various locations, providing them with comprehensive CPR training. Mr. A.K. Khatoniar attended the sessions and introduced NEHA to the attendees.
The programs were both well-organised and well-attended.

On the 29th of June, NEHA, in association with The Little Stars Senior Secondary School of Digboi, successfully organized a CPR training program at the school premises. The event saw enthusiastic participation from both the faculty and senior students, all of whom were actively engaged throughout the session.
The program was graced by the presence of several distinguished members, including Dr. Bikash Rai Das, Dr. Reema Das, Mr. Nabish Alam, Miss Solankee Chanda, and Mrs. Nasrin Ahmed. Their expertise and guidance significantly enriched the training session.
The event aimed to equip the participants with essential life-saving skills, and the active involvement of everyone present ensured that the objectives of the program were met effectively. NEHA extends its gratitude to The Little Stars Senior Secondary School for their collaboration and to all attendees for their enthusiastic participation.
On June 13th, 2024, a comprehensive Basic Life Support (BLS) training session was conducted for the staff of ILLUMISCLINIC in Guwahati. This essential training program was led by Dr. Bikash Rai Das, who brought a wealth of expertise and experience to the session.
The training focused on equipping the clinic's staff with crucial life-saving skills, including CPR and other fundamental emergency response techniques. The hands-on approach and practical demonstrations provided by the trainers ensured that all participants were thoroughly engaged and well-prepared to handle real-life medical emergencies.

On the 7th of June, 2024, the North East Health Association in collaboration with the Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Centre successfully organised a highly impactful Basic Life Support (CPR) training session. The event, held at the serene Himalayan Yoga and Meditation Centre in Guwahati, witnessed enthusiastic participation from individuals across various walks of life.
The training was led by two eminent medical professionals:
Dr. Bikash Rai Das, a senior heart surgeon from Apollo Hospitals, Guwahati, and Dr. Pranab Barua, the Director cum Senior Consultant of Accident & Emergency Medical Services at Ayursundra Hospitals.
